The Senate on Wednesday confirmed the appointment of Mounir Gwarzo as the Director General of the Securities and Exchange Commission(SEC). The decision came following the report of the screening by the Senate Committee on Capital Market headed by Ayo Adeseun which confirmed Mounir Gwarzo as the best man for the job.
The committee had expressed satisfaction with the appointment of Mounir Gwarzo as SEC Director General by President Goodluck Jonathan and asked the Senate to confirm it.
Mounir Gwarzo is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers (CIS). Gwarzo, 52, hails from Kano State. He attended Bayero University, Kano and graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Economics in 1987. He later went to the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom where he did his post -graduate course in Development Finance in 1991.
