The pop prince was performing in Saskatoon, Canada, as part of his Purpose world tour when he disappeared down a trap door, prompting gasps, laughter and applause from the crowd.
Beliebers can rest assured though that the 22-year-old escaped unscathed, joking about having cat-like tendencies.
Was this pained look a premonition of how he would feel when he took an on-stage tumble?
As far as dramatic exits go, we don't think it's exactly what he had in mind.
